Mass-Temperature Relation of Galaxy Clusters: A Theoretical Study

چکیده

Combining conservation of energy throughout nearly-spherical collapse of galaxy clusters with the virial theorem, we derive the mass-temperature relation for X-ray clusters of galaxies T = CM. The normalization factor C and the scatter of the relation are determined from first principles with the additional assumption of initial Gaussian random field. We are also able to reproduce the recently observed break in the M-T relation at T ∼ 3 keV, based on the scatter in the underlying density field for a low density ΛCDM cosmology. Finally, by combining observational data of high redshift clusters with our theoretical formalism, we find a semi-empirical temperature-mass relation which is expected to hold at redshifts up to unity with less than 20% error. Scaling relations in dynamical evolution of star clusters

We have carried out a series of small scale collisional N-body calculations of single-mass star clusters to investigate the dependence of the lifetime of star clusters on their initial parameters. Our models move through an external galaxy potential with a logarithmic density profile and they are limited by a cut-off radius. In order to find scaling relations between the lifetime of star cluste...

Tx Relation: Evidence for a High Level of Preheating

Recent X-ray observations have been used to demonstrate that the cluster gas mass temperature relation is steeper than theoretical self-similar predictions drawn from numerical simulations that consider the evolution of the cluster gas through the effects of gravity and shock heating alone. One possible explanation for this is that the gas mass fraction is not constant across clusters of differ...

An X–ray Size–temperature Relation for Galaxy Clusters: Observation and Simulation

We show that galaxy clusters conform to a tight relation between X–ray isophotal size RI and emission weighted intracluster medium (ICM) temperature 〈TX〉 . The best fit relation for 41 members of an X– ray flux limited cluster sample is: logRI = (0.93 ± 0.11) log (〈TX〉 /6 keV) − (0.08 ± 0.01); intrinsic scatter in size about the relation is 15%, and for 30 clusters with 〈TX〉 > 4 keV the scatter...

Mass-temperature relation of galaxy clusters: implications from the observed luminosity-temperature relation and X-ray temperature function

We derive constraints on the mass-temperature relation of galaxy clusters from their observed luminosity-temperature relation and X-ray temperature function. Adopting the isothermal gas in hydrostatic equilibrium embedded in the universal density profile of dark matter halos, we compute the X-ray luminosity for clusters as a function of their hosting halo mass. We find that in order to reproduc...

An SZ Temperature Decrement - X-ray Luminosity Relation for Galaxy Clusters

We present the observed relation between ∆TSZ, the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature decrement due to the Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect, and L, the X-ray luminosity of galaxy clusters. We discuss this relation in terms of the cluster properties, and show that the slope of the observed ∆TSZ−L relation is in agreement with both the L − Te relation based on numerical simulations and X-...
